SIERRA COLLEGE – UNDER CONSTRUCTION

While Sierra College has been in existence in Loomis, California for many years, it is just now building a new campus in Truckee, California.  The new location is on top of the hill where Interstate 80 and Highway 89 intersect.  The hill gained notoriety in the 1960s as a gathering place of the then youngsters and garnered the name, Hippie Hill.  While not being able to see the campus from either Highway 89 or Interstate 80, the new campus has a magnificent elevated view of the town of Truckee and Donner Summit.

Interestingly, all of the campus is to be constructed green.  The newest energy saving technologies are being employed in all buildings.  This method of construction comes with a higher price tag but, is estimated to make up that cost within several years of completion in energy cost savings.

While classes are scheduled to begin at the new college in the late spring of 2009, the temporary campus, located in the Pioneer Center at the east end of Truckee is starting registration for spring classes as we speak.  You may find out further information such as classes and curriculum at Truckee’s new college by going to www.sierracollege.edu.
