Lake Tahoe Warming Abnormally
NASA researchers have found that Lake Tahoe and several other lakes (Clear Lake, Almanor and several others) have temperatures rising at an unprecedented rate. While to a layman, the temperatures of 3.7 degrees in 16 years doesn’t sound like much, to the scientist it means that the surface water is rising twice as fast as the air temperatures.

It may not be appropriate to mention in this context but Lake Tahoe sure seems cold to me.
One of the possible reasons that the NASA people have come up with is the growth of the small Asian clams brought to the lake by boaters that have picked them up from other waterways. They are extremely prolific and have already gotten a foothold in Lake Tahoe. The universal puzzle seems to be how to control them and stop their proliferation in Lake Tahoe.
The long range concern has to do with the eventual affect warming will have on the ecosystem of the lake. One of the biggest concerns is the effect on the fish population as well as the legendary clarity of Lake Tahoe.
