Finally the long planned and hoped for entrance to the back side of Northstar ski area is to become a reality by the 2008-2009 ski season.  The very successful subdivision, Martis Camp, a gated community, should receive even more attention as the place to have a vacation home in the mountains. 

 

DMB Highlands, the Martis Camp developer, purchased the 2,177 acre property, formerly known as the Siller Ranch, and has developed it into one of Truckee/Lake Tahoe’s finest and most successful subdivisions.  Martis Camp is located adjacent to the gated Lahonton community in the Martis Valley.  This project have been specifically designed to be unseen from highway 267 so as not to impact the pristine views of the Martis Valley and the surrounding mountains

 

The entrance of the ski hill is planned to be at the base of Lookout Mountain and will incorporate three Lookout Mountain trail extensions.  The Lookout lift will increase from 2,822 linear feet to 5,128 lineal feet with an increase of vertical drop from 1,247 to 1,722 vertical feet.  Martis Camps’ amenities include 650 residential lots as well as an 18 hole golf  course and a 50,000 square foot lodge that rests near the base of Northstars Lookout Mountain.
