LOAN HELP, RIVER ALCOHOL BAN AND BIG FISH IN DONNER
The town of Truckee has been given $600,000 by the state to assist first time home buyers and eligible owner occupied rehabilitated projects. Loans are a deferred 3%. Up to $38,000 per loan is available. To be eligible for either program, the total household income must be at or below 80% of the Nevada County median income.
The state legislator is putting a law together that would ban all alcohol on the Truckee River. This was put into affect to limit the trash, noise and ecological damage to the Truckee River between Tahoe City and River Ranch.
This is the time of the year when the surface temperature of Donner Lake is close to the temperatures at the bottom of the lake and big fish feel comfortable coming to the surface to feed. Last week Rich Shaalman, just out to catch some rays, hooked into and landed a 7.5 Lb German Brown. He used a night crawler and power bait. Not the biggest Brown or Mackinaw as some Macks that have been caught in the 12 to 30 Lb range. Just another, not usually mentioned, fun Truckee activity!
