TRUCKEE RIVER DAY
TRUCKEE RIVER DAY
Truckee is a town that places great value in it's famous resource, the Truckee River. The two Truckee Clubs that have spearheaded the protection and revitalization of this asset are the Truckee Noon Rotary and the Truckee Morning Rotary.

The Noon Rotary sponsored the creation of a paved walking path through the Town of Truckee. This was accomplished with much volunteer labor from engineering to actual construction. The monetary contribution has amounted to approximately $50,000 a year for the last number of years. This is an ongoing Rotary project which is aimed at completing the trail completely through Truckee from border to border as well as connecting up to the trail coming from Lake Tahoe. There are presently portions of the Lake Tahoe trail completed. You may notice some of the Lake Tahoe portion being used by walkers, baby carriages, bikers, fishermen and daydreamers as you drive to the Lake on Highway 89 from Truckee.
Today, on Truckee River Day, the two Truckee Rotary Clubs as well as the Sparks, Nevada Rotary Club will meet on the Truckee River at the state line to perform restoration work as well as collect trash.
