Truckee noon Rotary puts on its’ annual Fishing Derby on July 17th at a pond behind the Donner State Park.   The Derby is for kids to age 12.  Rods and fishing equipment are provided but, if  you want to bring your own, that’s fine.  There will also be a Bar BQ hosted by the Rotarians for those hungry fishermen and fisherwomen and of course their families.

          I can’t tell you what fun it is to see the expression on young faces when their first fish is reeled in.  Fish are purchased from the California Department of Fish and Game by Truckee Noon Rotary.  Some lunkers all the way down to pan size trout are waiting to be caught.  Rotarians and others help to untangle tangles, bait hooks and help with the casting chores and of course bring in the lunkers along with free sage advise.   What fun!
