TRUCKEE’S AVERY HOTEL is slated TO SOON BECOME A REALITY
In the planning stages for several years, the Avery Hotel, a project of JMA Ventures is slated to start construction sometime this summer in 2010.
According to Nevada County Supervisor Ted Owens and Truckee Vice Major Richard Anderson, JMA VENURES is the recipient of a $5 million dollar stimulus fund low interest loan from Nevada County which helped start the project.
With the current construction business in Truckee at an all time low, David Tirman, the spokesman for the project estimates that the hotel project will create over 100 new construction jobs as well as about 30 hotel and restaurant jobs upon the projects completion.
It is further estimated that the addition of the Avery Hotel to the historic Truckee River and downtown core will further energize the downtown area as well as functioning as a place for tourists to find lodging and have access to this ever popular town. It is further hoped that the hotel will function as a destination for people looking for a popular area to explore, to go skiing and generally enjoy the mountains.
The hotel will find itself in good company where just across Brockway Road rests the refurbished Chinese Herb Shop standing in its’ original location, while just down South River street from of the Avery Hotel is the Truckee River Winery boasting to be the highest winery in the United States.
