One of the last old fashioned fourths

It starts at 6:00 AM at the Truckee Fire House with their annual pancake breakfast.  The parade kicks off at 10:00 AM to the sounds of bands, drums, horses, cowboys, gunslingers, dancers, barber shoppers, dogs, fire engines and a raft of other interesting items.  The parade goes from the high school football practice fields to the grandstand at the train station in old town Truckee

Kane Schaller announces the parade participants from the bleachers in front of Dickson Realty just across the street from the fire house breakfast.  When the parade ends people gather at Dickson Realty for the annual Santa Maria style BBQ cooked over red oak logs with all the fixins.

Moving on from there people are invited to yet another experience at the home owners beach at Donner Lake.  Arrivals by boat, cars, horse back, bicycles or tennis shoes are acceptable.  Here you find dollar hamburgers, hotdogs and ice cream, soft drinks and beer.  In keeping with old fashioned   fourths there are sack races, 3 leg races, egg tosses, tug of wars and the list goes on. Food is presented by Truckee Rotary at less than cost. What is the forth of July like without fire works?  Well, your not going to miss a thing, the fire works display begins at dark going on until the last flair is airborne.

Yes folks, that’s a Truckee 4th.  Are you tired yet?   If you missed this year, you can be first in line for the 6 o’clock breakfast next year at the fire house.  We’ll see you there.

Oh yes, we need to mention Addison Lilly Schaller born July 1, 2008 at 6:22 PM. to Kane and Aimee Schaller weighing in at just under a boisterous 8 lbs.

If you need to buy a home now call Kane or Aimee, but, if you can wait until 2026 you can call Addie, she’ll take real good care of you.  800-660-0903 www.alltruckeehomes.com
